I've Been A Teacher Since 2009
I've been teaching biology since 2009 and have worked as a Head of Department, biology education consultant and specialist GCSE and A-Level biology teacher. In 2024, I decided to leave teaching to focus on offering students and teachers high level biology resources based on my experience.
I've planned the lessons.
I've analysed the disappointing exam results.
I've tried to work out why students understand a topic in class but struggle to apply it in an exam.
I've supported teachers, developed resources and led biology provision.
And I've spent years thinking about how we can teach biology more effectively without simply adding more to teachers' workloads.
That's the experience behind Teach & Tell.
Why I Created Teach & Tell
Teachers don't need more resources for the sake of having more resources.
They need the right resources.
Materials that are clear, structured and easy to use. Lessons built around the biology students actually need to understand. Revision activities that help students think rather than simply copy another page of notes.
I wanted resources grounded in what cognitive science tells us about how students actually learn and remember, not just what's quick to produce. That means retrieval practice instead of re-reading, spaced and interleaved content instead of one-off cramming, and activities designed for every student in the room to engage with actively, not just the ones who already learn well independently. Accessible, inclusive design isn't an add-on here; it's built in from the start, so every student can take part, think hard, and build the skills they'll need on exam day.
I created Teach & Tell to give biology teachers practical support they can take straight into their classrooms.
Today, that includes GCSE and A-Level teaching resources, complete schemes of work, revision materials, practice papers and an expanding library of specialist biology resources.
The aim is simple: help teachers save time and teach biology with confidence.

CPD & School Support
I work directly with schools and science departments to provide practical, biology-specific support tailored to the challenges your team is facing.
That might mean delivering focused CPD for your department, analysing areas of weakness and planning targeted interventions, reviewing biology provision, or supporting your team to strengthen the way a particular topic or skill is taught.
I've also worked as a contracted advisor to Ark Soane, supporting the school as it established A-Level Biology provision for the first time.
Sessions can be delivered online or in person and are shaped around the needs of your school. I don't believe in generic CPD that leaves teachers with more theory and nothing to use on Monday morning.
The first step is understanding what's actually happening in your department. From there, we can identify where support will make the biggest difference and build a practical session or programme around it.
I also share free biology teaching CPD and professional development sessions through my YouTube channel.
BOOK CDP OR DISCUSS SCHOOL SUPPORTWorking with Biology Students
Sometimes students need to hear a message from someone outside their everyday classroom.
I deliver motivational talks, biology workshops, revision sessions and past-paper analysis sessions for GCSE and A-Level students.
These can be designed around the needs of a particular cohort, whether students need greater motivation, stronger exam technique or focused support with biology.
I also offer a free 20-minute online Q&A session each week for students at a school.
